I can't praise this book enough! While I wasn't a complete physics novice when I started this book, I was missing a lot of physics grounding. Art Hobson is a miracle of a teacher. The problem sets are very helpful, and half of them have answers in the back so that you can check your work. I found the problem sets to be critical to gaining real understanding of the material. I was actually disappointed when i finished the book--no more physics lessons to look forward to each day!

Physics for non-scientists

This is by far the most comprehensive book on physics I have purchased. As a non-mathematician nor physicist, I have found that the ideas were presented in a language that is easy to understand. The explanations were supported by diagrams and photos to reinforce the core ideas. This great book is worth the price.

great alternative to the paperback

this book is a great alternative to the paper back book because there is no binding to bend on the brand new book. with this, you must buy a binder,but its still cheaper than the paperback. you may not be able to sell back to your school bookstore, so if thats your goal at the end, then i would check that with the school.
