Decent framework if one recognizes/corrects deficiencies

This is a decent text for high school students with low reading levels. However, it must be supplemented. The text makes a good framework as long as one supplements with outside activities, vocabulary, etc.
A major downfall to the text is lack of vocabulary. For example, in cell biology, the text relies on descriptions of the parts of cell instead of standard vocabulary. High school students need to know what the endoplasmic reticulum is, not just that it is a "network of canals".
Another downfall is that the authors have ignored the fact that organisms are divided into 6 kingdoms, not 5. The kingdom Monera was divided into Archebacteria and Eubacteria decades ago and high school students need to know that!
